You write a good book, send it and sell it through D Books and earn money.
We welcome digital books on all topics.
A digital book (D book) is a multimedia presentation that can be sent through the internet and downloaded by the reader.
The publication should ideally be a stand-alone product viewable on any screen or in the case of titles created with our recommended software, Desktop Author, packaged with the required ‘reader’ file.
Terms and conditions
You are asked to read these carefully and to agree before submitting a title.
Definitions
The following definitions apply to this document:
Author – anyone who successfully submits material for inclusion on the D Books List
D Book – digital book – a complete presentation in digitised multi media format that can be transferred through the internet and that can be ‘read’ or viewed by purchasers on any PC. D books may or may not be viewable on Mac machines; this will depend on the software used by the authors. All D books must be viewable in PC Windows format.
Sale Price – the money from the sale of D books
Commission – the % of each sale price retained by D Books
List – All of the titles submitted by authors for sale. Each title will have been scanned and read prior to confirmation of publication to see that the highest standards of workmanship have been applied and that the title is completely legal as far as D Books is able to tell. (See below for more about legal submissions.)
Submission and Rules
D books should be sent via email, or uploaded from your computer.
The work should be original to you and presented to the highest professional standard. D Books accepts no responsibility for author content and assumes that authors own, or have full permission to use, any copyrighted material. This covers the use of all photography, audio and text used.
Any cases of plagiarism discovered will result in the immediate and permanent removal of titles from sale and the removal of the author’s name from the list.
D Books accepts no responsibility for unknowingly presenting illegal material of any type. We always aim to maintain the highest ethical standards and expects all authors to do the same. The authors will accept full responsibility for everything they submit.
Submissions will be carefully reviewed before going onto the list for sale.
Sales are at a 20% commission to D Books, deductable from the selling price.
Titles will be added to the New Titles List for a period of 1 week before going to the General D Bookshop section where they will be presented in alphabetical order.
Authors have the option of renting a shop counter space where they have their own page for promoting their individual titles and can make links to other sites to further promote their products.
Authors are not permitted to promote products that are not on the list on their Author Pages.
A careful note will be made of click-through on individual Author Pages and matches made to sales and feedback interest in the form of customer reviews.
Popular titles will also be promoted in the Recommended Titles section on the Welcome Page.
Payments
All D Book transactions are made through PayPal and so all Authors are expected to own a PayPal account and be able to provide their PayPal emails to receive payment and for paying out on rental charges and also for purchasing any of the special discounted offers that D Books is able to provide.
Sales Payments
Payments will be made into Author PayPal accounts in blocks of £10.
This means that sales, minus the commissions, have to accumulate to at least £10 before payment can be made.
All other payments to outside agents are strictly between the authors and these agents and D Books takes no further responsibility for any part of these transactions.
D Books undertake to:
Maintain the highest standards of commercial and ethical business behaviour.
Promote author products fairly and the best of D Books’ abilities.
Pay promptly when the base sum has been achieved.
Update the site regularly and maintain the highest internet profile we can.
